No assembly required! JackRabbits come fully assembled and can be set up to ride without any tools! Before you ride, you should do the following:

As covered in the Set Up videos, be sure to fill up the tires with air to the correct pressure, charge the battery, and attach the handlebars securely.

You’ll also need to set the proper saddle/seat height, put the foot pegs down, and test the braking and bell. Then you’ll be ready to learn how to ride!

No need to remove the battery to charge your JackRabbit! To charge, locate the charge port under the main rectangular frame of your JackRabbit, pop the charging cap open, and insert the round plug into the charge port. When finished, make sure to close the charging port cover. Be sure the charging port cover remains closed when not charging, especially when riding.

For JackRabbit OG: the charging port is under the frame and at the front of the bike, near the front wheel.

For JackRabbit OG2 & OG2 Pro: the charging port is under the frame at the rear of the bike frame. DO NOT attempt to charge your OG2 from the light ports on the side of the bike frame.

For JackRabbit XG & XG Pro: the charging port is under the frame at the rear of the bike frame. DO NOT attempt to charge your XG from the light ports on the side of the bike frame.

For JackRabbitMG Doble & MG Renegade: the charging port is under the frame at the rear of the bike frame.

Then plug your charger into a standard US 100-240V AC outlet. Please note that the JackRabbit cannot be recharged directly from a USB port. If charging in a car's 12V DC outlet, only the JackRabbit-approved 12V Ultra Portable Charger may be used. No other 3rd party chargers should be used on your JackRabbit!

From a dead battery and using the included charger, a JackRabbit will take about 3 hours to reach full charge from a fully depleted battery.

We also offer an Travel Battery accessory and the RangeBuster Battery, both of which work with all JackRabbit models, so you can instantly swap in more power.

From a dead battery and using the charger included with your bike, a JackRabbit will take at least 3 -5 hours to reach full charge. See detailed specs for each bike model and battery accessory for specific charging times.

All JackRabbits use bicycle tires and innertubes that require air in them at the proper pressure to ensure safe and comfortable riding, and maximum range.

In the USA, the common term for the pressure level is “PSI” and the necessary PSI range is shown on the side of the tire. For the tires on most JackRabbits, the accepted pressure range is 40-65 PSI, but be sure to check the range on the side of the tire.

Use a bicycle pump to inflate to the recommended PSI range. More pressure will reduce rolling resistance and increase range. Less pressure will provide more cushioning and reduced range.

Don’t overinflate or underinflate; proper pressure within the allowed range is important!

For JackRabbit OG

1. Open the handlebar clamp on the JackRabbit OG that is located on the bike’s handlebar stem hole above the front wheel.
2. Hold the handlebars above the bike so that the throttle and brake are on the right side of the bike. Make sure the cabling is in front of the handlebars.
3. Insert the handlebars stem into the stem hole.
4. Using your finger, press the silver pin on the handlebar stem as it enters the handlebar stem. Feel for the silver pin to click through the hole in the stem base and lift the rubber push button on the handlebar stem base to confirm that the silver button popped through the hole.
5. Align the opening on the handlebar clamp with the slot in the stem base. Turn the knob on the handlebar clamp clockwise to tighten and then push the clamp towards the stem to lock in place.
6. While opening and closing the clamp, re-adjust the tightening knob as necessary so that it takes moderate pressure to close the clamp with the palm of your hand. The pressure needed to close the clamp should be high enough that it leaves a temporary visible impression on the palm of your hand to close the clamp.

1. Open the handlebar clamp on the JackRabbit XG or JackRabbit OG2 that is located on the bike’s handlebar stem hole above the front wheel.
2. Hold the handlebars vertically with the throttle side of the handlebar highest in the air. Have all of the cabling in front of the throttle and brake levers.
3. With the handlebars vertically oriented with the throttle side of the handlebars at the highest point, insert the handlebars stem into the stem hole and then rotate the handlebars so that the throttle side of the handlebars rotates down and to the right into the riding position.
4. You should feel the handlebars following a spiral rotating track and then drop down into place once inserted correctly.
5. Align the opening on the handlebar clamp with the slot in the stem base. Turn the knob on the handlebar clamp clockwise to tighten and then push the clamp towards the stem to lock in place.
6. While opening and closing the clamp, re-adjust the tightening knob as necessary so that it takes moderate pressure to close the clamp with the palm of your hand. The pressure needed to close the clamp should be high enough that it leaves a temporary visible impression on the palm of your hand to close the clamp.

JackRabbit Riding Steps:

1. First, check to make sure that:

   • Your footrests are flipped down
   • The handlebars are firmly secured in the riding position
   • The brake (OG & OG2) or brakes (XG, XG Pro & MG models) are working
   • There is air in the tires to the correct PSI range
   • And the seat is in the right position for you
2. Now, sit on the JackRabbit in the riding position with both feet firmly on the ground and both hands on the handlebars.
3. Grip the handlebars with both hands and make sure you are familiar with the brake lever on the right.
4. For your first ride, try coasting before applying electric power. On a nice flat ground (like an empty parking lot), push off with one foot, and as you start to coast, let your legs hang for a bit and then lift and rest your feet on the footrests. Coast for a bit more and try steering left and right. Test the brake a few times. Sit comfortably back and try not to lean too far forward on the handlebars. Relax, coast, and glide!
5. Once you’re comfortable coasting and gliding, it’s time to turn on the power.
6. For JackRabbit OG, OG2, OG2 Pro, XG, and XG Pro: While stationary, press the power button on the right side of the handlebars above the thumb throttle. The LEDs (JackRabbit OG) or display (JackRabbit OG2, OG2 Pro, XG, & XG Pro) on the throttle should turn on, showing that you have activated power and what the battery level is.
7. For JackRabbit MG Doble & MG Renegade: While stationary, press the power button on the left side of the handlebars on the front of the display. The display should turn on, showing that you have activated power and what the current battery level is.
8. Before using the throttle, push off with one foot to start your forward movement and place both feet on the footpegs. Once you are coasting and moving forward, for OG, OG2, OG2 Pro, XG, and XG Pro, use your right-hand thumb to slowly press on the throttle. For MG Doble & MG Renegade, use your right wrist to roll on the throttle towards you to accelerate and roll the throttle away from you to decelerate. The more throttle you use, the more power will be applied, so start slow and get used to the power as you ride.

Have fun!! When you are finished with your ride, remember to turn off the power button to save battery. And always wear a helmet when riding!

Press the power button above the thumb throttle.

For JackRabbit OG: Press the gray button directly above the thumb throttle. When it’s on, the battery-level LED lights will be on. When it's off (or the battery is dead), the LED lights will be off.

For JackRabbit OG2: Press and hold the power button for about a second or two, located on the top of the display. When it’s on, the display will show information on it. When it's off (or the batteries are dead), the display will be blank.

For JackRabbit XG, OG2 Pro & XG Pro: Find the middle button with the international power symbol on it next to the display. Press and hold for about a second. When it’s on, the display will show information on it. When it's off (or the batteries are dead), the display will be blank.

For JackRabbit MG Doble & MG Renegade: Find the recessed button with the international power symbol on it under the display. Press and hold for about a second. When it’s on, the display will show information on it. When it's off (or the batteries are dead), the display will be blank.

When you are done riding, make sure to turn the power button off to save battery power. The JackRabbit OG2, OG2 Pro, XG, XG Pro, and MG models will automatically turn themselves off after a few minutes, but the JackRabbit OG will not turn itself off.

For JackRabbit OG, OG2, OG2 Pro, XG, and XG Pro: On the right side of the handlebar is a thumb throttle that controls the speed of your JackRabbit. Your speed will depend on how far down you press this throttle. The JackRabbit will go faster the harder you press down. Start by pressing the throttle lightly to get used to your speed.

For JackRabbit MG Doble & MG Renegade: On the right side of the handlebar is a twist throttle that controls the speed of your JackRabbit. Your speed will depend on how much you twist the throttle toward yourself. The JackRabbit will go faster the more you twist the throttle. Start by twisting the throttle only a small amount to get used to your speed.

To maximize range, we recommend applying the throttle just enough to reach a comfortable cruising speed, rather than holding it fully open. Press or twist, then release and coast.

JackRabbit OG: The OG has a single ( rear) brake lever only on the right side of the handlebars. It has a black and grey analog battery level indicator (green, yellow, and red led lights like you see below). The JackRabbit OG is the original JackRabbit model, and there are a couple of versions, as described in the JackRabbit OG Technical Specifications section below.

JackRabbit OG2: The OG2 has a single ( rear) brake lever only, on the right side of the handlebar, with an all black digital display like you see below.

JackRabbit OG2 Pro: The OG2 Pro has a single ( rear) brake lever only, on the right side of the handlebar, with an all black digital display like you see below.

JackRabbit XG and XG Pro: The XG and XG Pro have a brake lever (front and rear) on each side of the handlebar with an all black digital display like you see below.

JackRabbit MG Renegade: The MG Renegade is built for big dudes & dudettes everywhere. With a 749W cargo-geared motor, full-sized frame, 48+ mile range, 24 mph Off-Road Mode, hydraulic brakes, and a mullet wheel setup, it’s pure electric muscle. Ten+ attach points and a standard seat post mean endless mod potential.

Note: The tandem seat on the MG Doble cannot be adjusted. Below are instructions on how to adjust your seat on all OG and XG models, as well as the MG Renegade.

To adjust your seat or saddle, find the quick-release lever just below your seat cushion.

Flip open the quick-release lever, and move your seat up and down. The ideal seat height should allow both feet to be flat on the ground when seated. You should also be able to walk onto the JackRabbit from behind with the seat going between your thighs and just below your buttocks. (Unlike a traditional bike, you don’t need to throw your leg over the frame of a JackRabbit.)

You can check your battery level by turning on the power button located on the battery gauge found on your handlebars, above the throttle.

For JackRabbit OG: The OG is fully charged when all three battery lights are on (red, yellow, and green). As you lose charge, these battery lights will start to disappear.

For JackRabbit OG2: The OG2 is fully charged when all 5 battery icons at the bottom of the display are filled. As you lose charge, these battery icons will start to disappear (The last battery icon flashes when undervoltage occurs).

For JackRabbit XG, XG Pro, & OG2 Pro: The bike is fully charged when all four battery icons on the right side of the display are filled. As you lose charge, these battery icons will start to disappear.

For JackRabbit MG Doble & Renegade: The bike is fully charged when all four battery icons on the right side of the display are filled. As you lose charge, these battery icons will start to disappear.

When you see only the red light on the JackRabbit OG or you only have one battery icon on the JackRabbit XG, OG2, Pro models, or MG models. We recommend that you charge your JackRabbit as soon as possible or swap in an extra battery.

You can lock your JackRabbit with a typical bike lock, including the locks we offer on our Accessories page.

The best place to lock your JackRabbit is to run the lock through the closed-loop “triangle” portion of the rear of the bike; through the frame triangle from the seat tube to the back tire. We recommend positioning the lock to the closed-half loop metal frame on the rear tire.

However, where allowed, we encourage bringing your JackRabbit indoors with you and not locking it at all. Most places will allow you to walk your JackRabbit inside, given its small and discreet design. See here for how you can easily switch it into folded “Flat Mode” to roll it effortlessly and conveniently indoors.

Here are some tips to keep your JackRabbit in top condition:

Tire Pressure: Regularly check your tire PSI. Check the side of your tire for the recommended tire pressure, which differs by JackRabbit model. If your PSI is lower than the recommended, use a hand-operated or electric air pump with a pressure gauge to add air.

Cleaning: Wipe down your JackRabbit with a damp towel to keep it clean and free of dirt and debris.

Bolt Tightness: Periodically check the tightness of all bolts on your JackRabbit, including the footrest bolts, to ensure everything remains secure.

Battery Maintenance: Store your battery in a cool, dry place, ideally at a charge level of around 50-60%. Avoid leaving it fully charged or fully discharged for extended periods. Every few months, fully discharge and recharge the battery to help maintain cell balance and prolong battery life.

By following these simple steps, you'll help ensure your JackRabbit stays in excellent working order for years to come.

Not recommended. Although the JackRabbit does great on light gravel and bumpy roads, it’s not designed to be ridden in the snow or in deep sand.

The JackRabbit is IPX4 water resistant, which means it can handle splashes of fresh water from any direction.

Your JackRabbit can handle a freshwater rainshower but it should never be immersed in water.

Avoid any splashes of salt water and NEVER EVER immerse the JackRabbit in salt water. Immersing batteries in salt water can be dangerous and should be strictly avoided.

To keep your JackRabbit clean, we recommend using a damp towel. Mild detergent works fine. Even a baby wipe works great!

No, the stock handlebar height on your JackRabbit is not adjustable. However, if you’re looking for more height, check out our Midrise and Highrise Handlebar options available for all JackRabbit models on our Accessories page.

We designed the stock handlebar height and distance to work for a wide range of riders, helping to keep the JackRabbit’s design as light and efficient as possible. With our mid and high-rise options, you can further customize your ride to suit your preferences.

When riding, sit back on the seat, relax your arms and shoulders, and enjoy the ride! There's no need to hunch your shoulders or lean heavily on the handlebars—both of which can negatively affect handling and your overall riding experience.

JackRabbits come with batteries already installed. You can charge your battery without needing to remove it as described here. You only need to remove a battery if:

• You have a spare battery and want to swap out a full one for a depleted one, or
• You are checking your JackRabbit as luggage on an airplane and need to remove the battery to bring it in your carry-on

To remove a battery, you’ll need to unlatch the battery using the battery latch under the frame. Depending on your JackRabbit model, you’ll either use a key or a latch knob to unlatch your battery as follows:

For JackRabbit OG: Most JackRabbit OGs use a barrel key to lock the battery in. Insert the barrel key that comes with your JackRabbit underneath the frame. Then, rotate the key 90 degrees. It should rotate easily. If it doesn’t, jiggle and finesse it. No hard effort is needed.

For JackRabbit XG, OG2, OG2 Pro, XG Pro, MG Doble, & MG Renegade: These models use a latch-knob to secure the battery in the frame. When the latch is oriented 90 degrees to the frame, the battery is secured in the frame. When the latch is rotated so that the knob is aligned with the frame, the battery is unlatched and can be removed.

Once unlocked/unlatched, remove or insert the battery evenly with two hands. Please DO NOT force it in! It should slide in easily.

Once the battery is inserted, rotate the key or latch knob 90 degrees in the other direction to lock it in.

To charge an extra battery outside of your JackRabbit, simply insert the adapter that comes with your charger directly into the battery. When the light on the charger changes from red to green, you’re fully charged.

Use only the official JackRabbit Extra Battery accessory or the RangeBuster Battery as well as the official JackRabbit charger that came with your JackRabbit or the charger you bought from JackRabbit. We cannot guarantee the effectiveness or safety of third-party accessories.

We recommend only using the official JackRabbit Extra Battery accessory as well as the official JackRabbit charger that came with your JackRabbit. We cannot guarantee the effectiveness or safety of third-party accessories.

For JackRabbit OG: Some JackRabbit OGs come with keys. These keys are used to unlock your battery compartment, so you can swap in an extra battery pack, if needed.

If you’re interested in an extra battery pack, you can purchase one here.

If you don’t need to use a lock and don’t want the hassle of keeping track of a key to lock/unlock the battery in your JackRabbit OG, you can replace the key lock with a latch-knob that you can find on the Replacement Parts page here.

For JackRabbit XG, OG2 OG2 Pro, XG Pro, MG Doble, & MG Renegade: These models don't use keys to lock the batteries for easy battery in/out convenience. However, if you want to use a key lock, you can replace your latch-knob with a key lock that you can find on the Replacement Parts page here.

All JackRabbit seats use an industry-standard seat attachment bracket and an industry-standard 27.2 mm seatpost (or seat stem) diameter. Even the bench seat on the MG Doble can be removed and replaced with a traditional seat that uses a 27.2 mm seatpost stem.

You can replace the seat by using any seat that has the standard 2-rail mounting system underneath the seat. You can also replace the seatpost by using any standard seatpost with a 27.2 mm diameter, and can optionally choose to reuse the seat that came with your JackRabbit on the new post or use a different seat.

Customize and personalize away!

Note: The Kinekt XR Active Suspension Seat Post is compatible with all OG, OG2, and XG models, as well as the MG Renegade. Please note, it is not compatible with the bench seat that comes on the MG Doble.

To install the Kinekt XR Active Suspension Seat Post, first:

• Unclamp the seat’s quick-release clamp and remove your old seat and seat post from your JackRabbit.
• Using an Allen wrench, remove the seat from the stock seat post and secure it onto your Kinekt seat post.
• Slide the new Kinekt seat post and seat back into your JackRabbit, and secure it with the same quick-release mechanism.

Note: The Rear Basket is compatible with all OG and XG models, as well as the MG Renegade. Please note, it is not compatible with the MG Doble.

To install the Rear Basket accessory, follow the instructions below:

1. Use the Allen/hex key that comes with your basket to remove the screws from the rack, then place the basket on the rack and re-insert and tighten the screws so that the basket is attached to the rack.
2. Open the quick-release lever below the bike seat and pull the seat up and out of the bike.
3. Arrange the basket's quick-release mechanism so that the seat post can be slid into the basket's quick-release clamp.
4. Once the basket is roughly positioned onto the seat post, open the basket’s quick-release clamp and alternate between turning the quick-release tightening knob and closing the quick-release lever until the right pressure is achieved to keep the quick-release tightly clamped to the seat post so that there is no movement.
5. Reinsert the combined seat and basket onto the bike. Adjust the seat height to your preferred position and close the seat’s quick-release clamp. Then, open the basket’s quick-release clamp and adjust the height and position to your preference. Close the basket’s quick-release, and you're ready to roll!

Pro tip: If you're putting your JackRabbit in a small space like a car trunk and you have the JackRabbit basket attached to your seat, take the entire combined seat and basket off as one unit by opening the seat quick-release lever and pulling the seat and basket off together. Then, when you're ready to put the seat back on, it's easy to re-insert and align the combined seat and basket set in one quick step.

It only takes a couple of seconds to pop in a RangeBuster Battery and get 24+ miles of range!

• If you have an OG: cut the zip tie closest to the back wheel holding the cable onto the center tube, leave the other tie in place.
• If you have an OG2, OG2 Pro, XG: unlatch the seat post clamp and rotate it so it won't obstruct the battery when trying to install.
• Prepare the RangeBuster by carefully unlatching the bottom plate from the hooks on the side and removing the styrofoam spacer beneath the central battery.
• Gently uninstall the standard battery, and slide the RangeBuster gently into the battery opening until it is seated fully in place. 
• Install the bottom cover, making sure to snap the latches over the side hooks. On the OG, guide the brake cable into the notch in the bottom cover to get the cover to snap into place.
• Once the bottom plate is snapped in, lock the battery in and seek adventure! 

To install the front fender:

1. Remove the nut, washer, and bolt from the front fender.
2. Place the front fender behind the front wheel and align the metal connector of the fender with the small hole that goes through the front wheel fork.
3. Insert the bolt from step 1 through the front of the fork, out the other side, and through the metal hole in the fender. Place the washer on the bolt and then hand screw the nut onto the bolt.
4. Straighten and align the fender to your preference, and then use a screwdriver and some pliers or a wrench to tighten. It doesn't take much effort to complete this last step.

The JackRabbit OG has a feature that allows the front wheel to be locked into storage mode so it doesn’t turn or flop around when lifting to put the bike in a trunk, in the Air-Sea-Land Travel Bag, etc.

When the front wheel is rotated 180 degrees, there is a lock spring that automatically pops through a hole in the front of the bike to hold the wheel in place.

To unlock the front wheel so you can turn the front wheel 180 degrees back to Ride Mode, first locate the hole and the rubber button on the lower right area of the handlebar head tube, right above the front wheel fork.

Then manipulate the rubber button into the hole and press the button to release the wheel lock.

It may take a bit of jiggling to release it.

Once released, rotate the front wheel 180 degrees, insert and properly secure the handlebars, and you’re ready to ride!

If you own a JackRabbit OG and need replacement parts or are interested in particular accessories, you may need to know which version of the OG you have.

If purchased after November 2021 and your Brake Lever looks like the one on the left, you have an OG1.0. If your Brake Lever looks like the one on the right, you have an OG1.1.

If you purchased your JackRabbit before November 2021, you have a JackRabbit JR2. There are a few important differences to be aware of:

• The power button is located on the left side of the frame. It is a red colored switch and when pressed up (I) the power is on. When pressed down (O), the power is off.
• The battery level indicator is located on the battery itself. On the top of the battery, press the button in the middle of the battery and the surrounding LED lights will indicate the battery level. When all four lights are lit (three green and one red) = 75-100%, 3 = 50-75%, 2 = 25-50%, and 1 (red only) = 0-25%.
• The charging port is located on the top of the frame below the seat.
• The kickstand is located on the opposite side and moves in the opposite direction.
• The front wheel will not lock in place when rotated 180 degrees.

For the best experience, we recommend a maximum load weight of 240 lbs (meaning, the weight of the driver, accessories, plus anything that you might be carrying).

The JackRabbit OG will perform best for those 6’2” and under.

The JackRabbit OG weighs 24 lbs.

The maximum powered speed of the JackRabbit OG is 20 mph, but this can depend on road conditions, weather conditions and temperature, as well as the total load weight (i.e. the weight of the rider, accessories, plus anything that you might be carrying).

A fully charged JackRabbit OG can travel an average of 10+ miles on one charge.

However, this range is subject to vary depending on road conditions, applied power, weather conditions and temperature, as well as the total load weight (i.e. the weight of the rider, accessories, plus anything that you might be carrying).

Hill climbing with a JackRabbit depends on the power available, the rider's weight, and the steepness of the incline.
Here's how each model performs:
JackRabbit OG and OG2: Both the OG and OG2 models deliver 350 watts of power to the rear wheel with a fully charged battery.
For a rider weighing 200 lbs, these models can climb hills with up to a 14% grade at a speed of 5 mph, which is about double the speed of walking uphill.
For a rider weighing 150 lbs, these models can climb hills with up to an 18% grade at 5 mph.
The JackRabbit design also allows for "kick-scooting" with one leg while ascending a hill to give it an extra boost if needed.

JackRabbit XG: The XG model has a more powerful motor, making it better suited for hill climbing and descending.
A rider weighing 200 lbs can climb hills with up to a 17% grade at a speed of 5 mph.
A rider weighing 150 lbs can climb hills with up to a 22% grade at 5 mph.
On less steep hills, the XG can carry an average-sized rider at speeds ranging from 8-16 mph.

With the same powerful motor as the XG, the OG2 Pro can tackle hills with up to an 18% grade—a slope widely considered steep. However, at this incline, speed will reduce to around 5 mph, which is still significantly faster than walking. On more moderate hills, the OG2 Pro can maintain speeds between 8-16 mph for an average-sized rider. Additionally, its lightweight design allows you to kick-scoot with one leg to give it an extra boost if needed. If you frequently ride on steep inclines and need even more power, consider the JackRabbit XG Pro for enhanced hill-climbing and descending performance.

From the beginning, creating a safe and rigorously tested product with premium components has always been a priority for JackRabbit. So, it was critical to us that we meet and pass the most important test standards within our industry space and pass UL certified test standards, which include:

We recommend that only adults 18 years and older ride a JackRabbit. Please check your local E-bike and E-scooter laws for specific requirements and regulations, as these can change often and vary state by state and city by city. For example, some states require a valid driver’s license, DMV registration, and/or a helmet to ride a vehicle that classifies as an electric scooter, like the JackRabbit.

In most U.S. states, JackRabbit technically classifies and is regulated as an electric scooter.

However, the regulations around electric vehicles, what products are classified as such, and where they are legal are constantly in flux. Please refer to your home state laws and local municipality laws for the latest information on electric vehicle rules and regulations in your area before purchasing and/or riding a JackRabbit.

First, fold up the footpegs. Then, open the handlebar clamp, and while keeping the front wheel facing forward, slightly lift up the handlebars and rotate the throttle side of the handlebar upwards and 90 degrees so that the handlebars are aligned flat with the bike frame, and then close the clamp.

Voila, your JackRabbit is flat and perfect for walking indoors (footpegs out of the way and handlebar brake lever perfectly oriented for easy walking and braking with no power needed), storing in a closet, or stacking a few in an RV, camper van, or car trunk.

When traveling with a JackRabbit bike, the best way to transport it is to use travel mode, its most compact travel size. We also suggest using our Universal Travel Bag to best protect it during travel (MG models do not fit in our travel bag).

There are several things you can do to make your JackRabbit smaller for traveling.

This ranges from simply taking off the handlebars and turning the front wheel around (shaving off a few inches) to removing the front wheel and seat to make it as small as possible.

With the handlebars removed and the front wheel rotated, the OG and OG2 platforms will fit in most car trunks, and several can be stacked on top of each other in some trunks.

With the front wheel and seat removed on the OG, OG2, and XG platforms, these bikes will fit into our Universal Travel Bag.

To remove the front wheel of the OG or OG2 platforms, use a 15mm wrench. Our Universal Travel Bag comes with a wrench for this purpose.

To remove the front wheel on the XG and MG platforms, no tools are needed due to the front wheel clamp.

For JackRabbit OG: Watch this video to see how to fold your JackRabbit into its smallest size for storage or transporting, as well as how to fold the JackRabbit into Walk Mode to conveniently walk your JackRabbit indoors and slide it into convenient spaces like behind a door, in a closet, or behind the front seats of a car.

First, lower the seat and fold up the foot pegs. Then, release the handlebar clamp, and while keeping the front wheel facing forward, slightly lift up the handlebars and remove them from the bike frame completely. Close the handlebar clamp.

For the XG & XG Pro, you can either let the handlebars hang freely or wrap them in a protective padding with special care placed on the throttle thumb-paddle and display area.

For the OG2 & OG2 Pro, there is a plastic handlebar keeper that can be used to attach the removed handlebars to the bike for storage, however, for traveling, we do not recommend using the handlebar keeper. Instead, let the handlebars hang freely next to the bike or wrap them in the handlebar protector included with the Air-Sea-Land Travel Bag.

Next, either rotate or remove the front wheel to shorten the length.

Rotating the wheel 180 degrees will shorten the length by 3 inches, which is the perfect amount for when putting your XG or OG2 in the back seat area of a car. The OG2 uses a velcro strap located inside the handlebar keeper to secure the front wheel to the frame and stop it from moving around during travel. If the headlight is installed in your XG or OG2, you’ll either need to remove it or turn it so that it’s not in the way of the frame when the wheel is rotated. Removing the wheel entirely is useful for fitting the XG in a car trunk or when using our travel bag.

To remove the front wheel on the XG, open the quick-release clamp on the right side of the wheel. Then, using both hands, unscrew the axle pin until there is sufficient clearance around the fork ends to slide the wheel off.

Voila, your JackRabbit is in Travel Mode and ready to be placed in a travel bag or fit in super tight spaces

Flying with Your JackRabbit & The Universal Travel Bag

Note: The Universal Travel Bag is compatible with all OG and XG models. It is not compatible with MG models.

Yes! You can fly with your JackRabbit! Just make sure to remove the battery and carry it with you in your carry-on luggage before checking the bike as baggage. Before you fly, always check the FAA’s website and your airline’s website to confirm their current lithium battery allowance, as these rules and regulations are subject to change.

Can you fly with an MG? Yes — with a few extra steps. Unlike our OG and XG models, the MG isn’t quite as flight-friendly out of the box. You’ll need to purchase our Travel Batteries separately, since the standard RangeBuster batteries exceed TSA and airline limits for lithium-ion batteries. Also, keep in mind the MG does not fit in our Universal Travel Bag, so you’ll need to find a compatible bike bag that meets airline size requirements.

It’s doable, but definitely more of a DIY travel setup than our other models. If you plan on flying with your JackRabbit often, an OG or XG model might be a better fit for you.

Battery Travel Guidelines:

• A maximum of two JackRabbit OG, OG2, and XG stock batteries (151.2Wh) are typically allowed on most US airlines.
• You are typically allowed two JackRabbit 151.2Wh batteries per passenger in your carry-on.
• JackRabbit RangeBuster batteries exceed FAA limits and cannot be taken on commercial flights.

Yes, your JackRabbit will fit on most typical bike racks. However, given it’s so small and light, it can also easily fold up and fit in the trunk or back seat of your car. If needed, the front wheel can be removed to make it smaller, which can be helpful especially on our larger bikes like the MG.

Yes! We recommend shipping your JackRabbit with either UPS or FedEx and by ground shipping only (if you plan to ship the JackRabbit with its battery included).

Before shipping, be sure to put your JackRabbit into “Travel Mode” so it's as slim as possible and can fit into a box more easily.

Regular Charging:

Charge after every ride: Avoid letting the battery fully drain before charging. Lithium-ion batteries perform best when kept between 20% and 80% of their capacity.

Once the battery reaches 100%, unplug it.

Proper Storage:

Store in a cool, dry place: Extreme temperatures can damage the battery. The ideal storage temperature is between 50°F and 77°F (10°C - 25°C).

Charge before long-term storage: If you're not using the bike for an extended period, charge the battery to about 50-60% and store it. Avoid storing it fully charged or fully depleted.

Temperature Awareness:

Avoid extreme temperatures: Don't expose the battery to excessive heat (above 104°F / 40°C) or cold (below 32°F / 0°C), as this can reduce battery life.

Let it cool down: If the battery is hot after a ride, let it cool down before charging.

Use the Correct Charger:

Original charger: Always use the charger that comes with your JackRabbit.

Using a fast charger will decrease the overall capacity of your battery quicker than using the standard charger. To prolong the usable life of your battery, avoid using this charger as your main charger. This charger is best used when you are on the go, and you should use your stock charger when charge time is not important.

Avoid using non-approved chargers: Using a charger not specifically designed for your battery can damage it and will void your warranty.

Regular Inspection:

Check for damage: Periodically inspect the battery for any signs of physical damage, swelling, or corrosion.

Clean the contacts: Keep the battery contacts clean and dry to ensure a good connection.

Gentle Usage:

Step 1: Check the Battery Charge

• Inspect the Battery Level: Ensure your battery is fully charged, as it’s essential for powering your JackRabbit.
• Plug in your charger and check the charging LED indicator. If the light doesn’t turn on or the battery isn’t charging, the battery or charger might be the issue.

Step 2: Check Battery & Charger Voltage with a Multimeter

If you’re unsure how to use a multimeter or are uncomfortable checking the voltage yourself, we recommend taking your bike to one of our local dealers for a professional inspection.

Check the Battery Voltage

• Use a multimeter to check the battery’s voltage once fully charged. It should read between 40 to 42V when fully charged.
• If you’re unfamiliar with using a multimeter:
  • Set the multimeter to DC voltage mode (marked as “V” with a straight line and dots underneath).
  • Place the black probe on the negative terminal and the red probe on the positive terminal. DO NOT LET THE PROBES TOUCH EACH OTHER.
  • Read the voltage output on the display.

Check the Charger Output

• With the charger plugged in, use the multimeter to measure the charger’s output voltage. It should read 42V.
• If the charger isn’t outputting 42V, it may need to be replaced.

Step 3: Check the Battery Connection

• Remove and Reinsert the Battery: Detach the battery and inspect the connection points on both the battery and the bike for any dust, dirt, or damage.
• Ensure the battery clicks securely into place when reinstalling.

Step 4: Inspect Wiring and Connections

Check for Loose or Damaged Connections

• Inspect all visible wiring from the battery to the motor, looking for any loose, disconnected, or damaged cables.

Throttle Cable Check

1. Trace the throttle cable from the handlebar down to where it goes into the frame.
• OG the wires run under the frame and into a rubber grommet to the controller.
• OG2, XG, OG2 Pro, XG Pro, MG Doble, & MG Renegade the wires going into the side of the frame. Remove the frame port cover to gain access to the connectors.
2. Gently pull the wires out to expose the connectors.
3. Inspect the connection to ensure the connectors are:
• Firmly attached
• Free of moisture, dirt, or debris
• Fully seated

Step 5: Test the Power Button

• Ensure the power button is being pressed correctly.
• Check for any visible damage, sticking, or unresponsiveness.

Additional Tips
✔ Regularly check and ensure your bike’s "electrical ports (ie, charging port and light ports) are clean and free from any debris.
✔ Store your bike in a dry place to avoid moisture damage to electrical components.
✔ Ensure the battery is properly secured and avoid overcharging to extend its lifespan.

If you get a flat tire, here’s what to do:

• Inspect the Tire: Before anything else, inspect the inside of the tire and the rim thoroughly, especially around the area where the hole is located. It’s important to identify what caused the puncture. Use the valve stem as a reference point to match the tire and tube locations. Sometimes, there may be no visible sign on the outside because the thorn or tack has worn down, but the sharp end is still embedded in the tread, waiting to puncture a new tube.
• Minor Punctures: If it’s a small pinhole puncture (from a thorn, staple, or small nail), you can use a standard tire patch kit to repair the tire.
• Severe Punctures: If the puncture is more severe, you’ll need to replace the inner tube.

Below are the steps to remove and replace the wheel so you can inspect the tire, repair punctures, or replace the inner tube:

• Removing the Front Wheel:
  • Use a wrench to loosen one nut sufficiently until you can take the front wheel off.
• Removing the Rear Wheel:
  • Disconnect the motor cable by unplugging the plug near the motor along the frame.
  • Loosen each nut on both sides of the wheel.
  • Use a screwdriver or pry bar to dislodge the washer between the nut and the frame. This should come off easily.
  • Remove the wheel and follow the reverse instructions to re-install it once you're done.

To adjust your seat, find the quick-release lever just below your seat cushion.

Flip open the quick-release lever and move your seat up and down. The ideal seat height should allow both feet to be flat on the ground when seated. You should also be able to walk onto the JackRabbit from behind with the seat going between your thighs and just below your buttocks. (Unlike a traditional bike, you don’t need to throw your leg over the frame of a JackRabbit.)

Clamp down the quick-release lever when your seat is at the right height.

If you find that your seat slips down when you sit on it, it’s likely because the quick-release lever needs to be tightened.

To tighten the quick-release lever, flip it open. While open, adjust the knob on the quick-release band to increase the pressure when closing the lever. The pressure should be set so that it is not effortless to close the lever, but the pressure does not need to be so high that it’s difficult to close the lever.

Note: The below only applies to OG models, XG models, and the MG Renegade. It does not apply to the MG Doble.

To recenter your seat, first find the quick-release lever just below your seat cushion.

Flip open the quick-release lever and release it. Then, remove the entire seat and seat post from the JackRabbit by pulling upwards on it until it is fully removed from the frame of the JackRabbit.

Turn the seat over and use a 5mm hex key or Allen key to loosen the seat bolt. Adjust the angle of the seat to what you find most comfortable, and then tighten the seat bolt.

Flip the seat back over, re-insert it into the frame of the JackRabbit, and re-adjust the seat to your preferred height. Then, re-clamp the quick-release lever.

• Check the Power Source:
  • Ensure you are plugging your JackRabbit into a standard power outlet rated for the power range listed on your JackRabbit charger. In the US, it should be a standard 110V AC outlet.
  • Please note that JackRabbits cannot be recharged directly from a USB port.
  • If you’re using a car's 12V DC outlet, only use the JackRabbit 12V Ultra Portable Charger to avoid damaging your battery.
• Charging Time:
  • From a dead battery, it will take approximately 3 hours for your JackRabbit to reach a full charge.
• Check the Power Outlet:
  • Make sure the power outlet you are using is functional. You can test this by plugging in another device to see if it works.
  • Turn off your JackRabbit, and plug the charger into the power outlet when the green light comes on, then plug the charger into your JackRabbit. The charger light will turn from green to red, indicating your JackRabbit is charging.
• Check the plug connection into the JackRabbit or the JackRabbit battery:
  • If charging through the bike frame, make sure the charger barrel plug is plugged into the JackRabbit charge port under the main frame of the bike. On the OG, it is under the frame, near the front of the bike. On the OG2, XG, and MG models, it is located under the frame near the seat tube. Do not plug the charger into the light ports on the side of the XG and OG2 bikes!
  • If charging a battery out of the bike, make sure that the charge adapter that came with your bike’s stock charger is securely plugged into the battery on one end and the charger barrel plug on the other end.
• Troubleshoot:
  If it’s not holding a charge or not charging properly, there’s a quick way to test both the charger and the battery using a multimeter. Here’s how:
  • Check the Charger First:
    • Plug in your charger and set your multimeter to DC voltage mode.
    • Place the multimeter probes on the charging plug terminal: one on the outside of the tip and one in the center. (without them touching each other).
    • The charger should read close to 42V. If it’s not, there might be an issue with the charger, and we can look into replacing it for you.
  • Fully Charge the Battery: If the charger is working, make sure the battery is fully charged using the provided charger.
  • Set the Multimeter for the Battery: Set your voltmeter to DC voltage mode again.
  • Measure the Battery Voltage: Place the voltmeter probes on the battery terminals (again, making sure the probes don’t touch each other).It should read somewhere between 40 to 42V when fully charged.
  • Check for Voltage Drop: If the reading is significantly lower than 42V, this could indicate the battery isn’t holding a charge properly.
  If you notice a low voltage reading or any irregularities with either the charger or the battery, please take pictures of the voltage readings and the label with the S/N on the side of the battery and let us know.

  We can assist with the next steps, and if your battery is still under warranty, we’ll look into replacing it for you.

A fully charged JackRabbit is designed to travel an average of 10+ miles per standard 151 Wh battery & 24+ miles on each RangeBuster Battery on one charge.

However, this range is subject to vary depending on road conditions, weather conditions, and temperature, as well as the total load weight (i.e. the weight of the rider, accessories, plus anything that you might be carrying) and how many times the battery has been discharged and charged (a normal battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles when operating under normal conditions).

Lithium batteries, like the ones used in our JackRabbit bikes, often need a few charge cycles to reach their optimal performance. When you first start using a new battery, it might not deliver its full range right away. This is completely normal and part of the battery’s "break-in" period.

What Happens During Initial Charge Cycles:

• Balancing Cells: The battery cells need to balance during the first few charge cycles, ensuring each cell charges and discharges evenly, improving overall battery performance.
• Increasing Efficiency: After cycling the battery a few times, its efficiency and capacity to hold a charge will improve, leading to longer ride times.
• Calibration: The battery management system (BMS) calibrates during these cycles, providing more accurate readings of the battery's charge level and health.

To help your battery reach its full potential, we recommend fully charging and discharging it a few times.

Use Lower Power Modes:

For daily travel, use lower power settings to extend battery life.

Regulate Speed:

Maintaining a moderate speed helps conserve energy. Higher speeds demand more battery power, leading to quicker depletion.

Plan Your Route:

Choose routes with fewer hills and less traffic. Heavy traffic and hilly terrain can drain the battery faster.
