Allowed in the same places that e-scooters and e-bicycles are allowed.

Lets start with the official answer

JackRabbit is an “ultra lightweight, low-speed electric powered seated scooter.” Classed the same as stand-up e-scooters and allowed in the same places that e-scooters and e-bicycles are allowed.

Call it what you want

Unofficially, you'll hear it called a "micro e-Bike", a "scooter-bike", or sometimes even “the baby of a bike and a scooter.” Believe us, we've heard it all. The vibe is flexible.

NOT an e-Bicycle

NOT an e-Bicycle

JackRabbit is not a class 1, 2, or 3 e-bicycle. No pedals = no e-bicycle classification and none of the ambiguity that comes with it.

NOT an e-Moto

NOT an e-Moto

JackRabbit is not an e-moto. JackRabbit is not designed for high speed riding.

NOT a Moped

NOT a Moped

JackRabbit is not a moped (requires pedals), a motor scooter (high speed, high power), or OCEV and doesn't require insurance or registration

Ahead of it’s Time

Every “how did I ever live without this?” started with “what the f*ck is that?”

The car looked ridiculous next to the horse. Everyone laughed at the smartphone before they started carrying it in their pocket. Every big cultural shift starts the same way: As a thing people aren’t quite sure how to categorize yet.

ESG Best of 2025 — Best seated electric scooter: lightweight

We didn’t start this, we just do it best

JackRabbit didn’t invent the two-wheeled vehicle, but we did pioneer the micro-mobility industry. Wired doesn’t call us the “Original Micro eBike”...and "the most useful e-Bike" for nothing. A growing wave of micromobility options have been proving the same thing for years: most trips don’t need four wheels, a trunk, or a parking spot. We’re proud to be early to the party.

Must have ‘fully operable pedals’ despite whether practically able to be pedaled for locomotion.

Class definitions generally cover top speeds regarding whether throttle operated or using “pedal assist.” Education and enforcement loopholes frequently exploited.

Generally limited to 28 mph.

Vehicles that are designed for high speed travel in traffic lanes at speeds 30 mph and higher.

Feature powerful motors and weigh 100+ pounds. Generally require insurance, licensing, and registration.

“Mopeds” often require “operable pedals” that are generally ineffective for practical locomotion.

“Motor Scooters” are often synonymous with “Vespas” and other iconic brands/makers.
